Werehairref.live is a deceptive site that is currently displaying an Amazon giveaway scam. When you are redirected to the website, you will see a “Congratulations” message alerting you that you have been selected to take part in a survey that, if you are successful in completing it, will reportedly give you a prize (such as an iPhone 14 Pro). The scam is set up to appear like an Amazon-sponsored giveaway, but Amazon is not affiliated with it. People that are familiar with giveaway scams ought to be able to spot this as a classic example of one right away. As long as you don’t engage in the scam, it’s not dangerous. Those who fall for the scam, however, will end up disclosing their private information to cybercriminals.
“Today, you have been randomly selected to take this survey. It will only take a minute and you will receive an amazing prize: Apple iPhone 14 Pro!” is what this particular giveaway scam claims. If you were to believe this pop-up, Amazon is the company hosting this giveaway. If you scroll down, you will see many fake comments claiming that this is legitimate and that prizes are actually sent. However, this is nothing more than a scam.
There are only a few questions in the survey, and once you’re done you will be informed that you have won a prize. You would have to provide your personal information to get it. Your full name, home address, phone number, and email address will be required. The whole point of this giveaway scam is to obtain this information. Personally identifiable information is highly sought after because it can be used to target users with sophisticated scams. The information is usually sold to other cyber criminals on hacker forums. There isn’t much you can do once your information is public, but you can at least be more cautious of scammers.

Giveaway scams are typically very easy to identify. The most important thing to remember is that companies like Walmart, Google, Facebook, Amazon, and others don’t host these kinds of contests or giveaways. And even if they did, they would announce it through official channels (e.g. official social media) rather than questionable ads on dangerous websites. Always presume that any advertisement that claims you have won something is a scam in the future. You’re safe as long as you avoid interacting with giveaway scams. Falling for such a scam could lead to financial loss, however.
Why are you redirected to this scam?
Multiple factors can trigger random redirects to Werehairref.live and other sites hosting similar scams. Redirects are most frequently triggered by risky websites users browse. Some websites are considered to be high-risk because of the ads they expose users to. For example, sites that have pirated and/or pornographic content are often guilty of exposing users to questionable ads and triggering redirects. Fortunately, you can easily stop both the ads and redirects with an adblocker program.
Your computer may be infected with adware if you frequently find yourself redirected to Werehairref.live and other questionable websites despite visiting safe and mainly ad-free websites. Adware is at least a fairly obvious infection because its primary signs include endless ads and random redirects.
Free programs frequently come with additional offers like adware and browser hijackers. This type of installation is known as software bundling. The way it works is said infections are added to free programs as extra offers and authorized to install alongside automatically. Your explicit permission is not necessary for this. So when you install free programs, you could install all kinds of junk without even knowing. The extra offers are technically optional but users need to manually deselect them to prevent their installations. Most are unable to do that because the offers are hidden. This is why the method is quite controversial and programs that use it are often detected as potential threats by anti-virus programs.
If you correctly install free programs, you can easily avoid these potentially unwanted installations. The most crucial thing to keep in mind is that you need to select Advanced (Custom) settings during installation rather than Default (Basic). The installation window advises using Default, but these settings will allow the installation of all other offers. If you choose Advanced settings, all additional offers will be made visible to you, and you can choose to deselect all of them.
At first sight, the additional offers could seem useful, but permitting them to install would just cause more problems. These useless programs would only slow down your system and cause issues. Adware and other similar infections are also much harder to remove once fully installed, so it’s best to just deselect them in the beginning.
Werehairref.live removal
This giveaway scam is not dangerous if you don’t interact with it, so all you need to do if you encounter it is close the pop-up window. To check for adware, it’s a good idea to use an anti-virus program to scan your computer. Detecting and removing adware is easiest using an anti-virus program.
If you’re redirected by the websites you visit, you need to install an adblocker program. This is especially important if you frequent high-risk websites. Not only would the adblocker stop random redirects, but it would also block regular ads.
