What is the Mr. Beast Giveaway scam

Mr. Beast Giveaway scam refers to a series of scams that falsely claim Internet celebrity Mr. Beast is giving away a $1,000 prize to users who download a sponsored application. The Internet personality Mr. Beast has nothing to do with the scam, his name is merely used to promote the scam.

Mr. Beast is a popular YouTube content creator and Internet personality. The majority of his YouTube videos involve him giving away large sums of money and expensive items. Because of his reputation, his name is often used by scammers to promote giveaway scams. Of course, Mr. Beast has nothing to do with these scams, his name is merely misused for scam promotion.

These scams are hosted on highly questionable websites. As soon as you enter such a site, you will be greeted with an illustration of Mr. Beast holding money in his hands. There will also be a message saying $1,000 has been reserved for you, followed by instructions on how to get the money. You are asked to download the linked application, after which you will have to provide your PayPal email address to get the money.

It goes without saying that you will not receive this money because this is a scam. If you scroll down, you will see many comments saying that this giveaway is real but know that these comments are all fake.

In addition to getting users to download potentially dangerous programs, the goal of the malicious actors promoting this scam is to phish users’ personal information. If you engage in the scam, you will eventually be asked to provide your personal information, including full name, home address, and phone number. Some scams may also ask for banking information.

If users provide this information, it’s immediately sent to the malicious actors operating this scam. They will either sell it to other cybercriminals on some hacker forum or use it themselves to further scam users with more sophisticated scams.

Users who have revealed their personal information to scammers should be very careful because they could be targeted by cybercriminals. Unsolicited phone calls, emails, and other forms of contact from unknown people should be regarded with suspicion because of this. And if users have provided their payment card information, they need to contact their banks immediately to cancel their cards.

We should mention that “giveaways” like the Mr. Beast Giveaway are never legitimate. Even if Mr.Beasts is known to give away large sums of money, he does so through legitimate means. Legitimate giveaways are never announced via random pop-ups you encounter when browsing.

If you get redirected to this scam, it’s worth checking your computer for an adware infection. You should also install a good adblocker program to prevent unwanted random redirects in the future.

Why are you redirected to sites promoting the Mr. Beast Giveaway scam?

Users can be redirected to sites that host scams like the Mr. Beast Giveaway scam via adware or questionable websites. Many sites are considered to be high-risk because of the advertisement content they expose visitors to. Sites with pornographic or pirated content are particularly guilty of this. Clicking on anything on those sites will trigger several pop-ups. Fortunately, a good adblocker program can easily prevent the redirects and block other ads.

If you have been redirected several times, especially when browsing safe sites, your computer may be infected with adware. Adware is not a serious infection and is usually installed via the free software bundling method. To put it simply, it can be attached to a free program as an extra offer. These offers are technically optional but they are preselected to install alongside the freeware automatically. So when you install the program, you also install the offer.

If you want to prevent unwanted offers from installing, use Advanced (Custom) settings instead of Default when given the option. The installation window will recommend using Default settings but if you do that, all added offers will be installed alongside. Advanced settings, on the other hand, will not only show you the added offers but also give you the option to deselect what you do not want.

Always deselect added offers because legitimate programs do not use this method to install. Those that do are often detected as potential threats by anti-virus programs.
