Remove ZoomFind browser hijacker

ZoomFind is classified as a browser hijacker, though it may be advertised as a useful browser extension. If your browser is suddenly redirecting you to boyu.com.tr when you do a search, your computer has a browser hijacker installed. It’s not a serious infection but it will make unwanted changes to your browser’s settings and try to redirect you to sponsored websites.

After the ZoomFind browser hijacker gets installed, users may notice immediate changes to their browser settings. Browser hijackers are notorious for making unwanted changes to browsers’ settings. This, at least, makes them very noticeable infections. ZoomFind will hijack your browser by setting a questionable website as your homepage/new tabs, as well as setting boyu.com.tr as your default search engine. This will effectively direct all search queries through it.

Furthermore, the ZoomFind hijacker may stop you from being able to access the Google Chrome Web Store by redirecting you to Google whenever you try to access the store. What’s more, the hijacker enables the “Managed by your organization” feature, which is a legitimate tool used by companies to manage employees’ browsers. While this feature can be convenient for administrators to enforce specific browser settings and restrictions, it is also exploited by browser hijackers to restrict users from making changes to their browser settings.

Although ZoomFind and similar browser hijackers are not inherently classified as dangerous infections because they don’t do direct damage to the computer, they are not completely harmless. Their primary objective is to redirect users to sponsored websites. This is done by forcing users to use dubious search engines, such as boyu.com.tr, which inject sponsored content into search results. Consequently, these sponsored results may lead users to unsafe websites, including those concealing malware or promoting scams.

One important thing to mention about browser hijackers is their intrusive data collection practices. The ZoomFind hijacker will monitor your browsing activities and collect certain data, including visited websites, search queries, and IP addresses. This collected information can be shared with third parties, which is a privacy breach.

Overall, the ZoomFind extension lacks any redeemable features, which makes its intrusiveness that much more troublesome. Therefore, if you find it on your computer, remove ZoomFind browser hijacker sooner rather than later. Given that manually removing browser hijackers can be difficult, using an anti-virus program is recommended. Once ZoomFind is successfully removed from the device, the browser will be restored to its normal state and you will be free to change its settings again.

How do browser hijackers install on a computer?

Infections such as browser hijackers and adware are very common on free program download websites, disguised as legitimate and useful programs. This is why you always need to research programs before installing them. Even a quick Google search can be helpful in determining whether a program is safe to download/install.

Browser hijackers are mostly installed via a method known as the software bundling method. It’s a rather deceptive method because it involves adding hijackers and similar infections to free programs as extra offers. These offers are always technically optional, they need to be manually deselected by users to prevent their installations. Furthermore, users are usually not unaware of these added offers because they are hidden in settings users don’t normally use. This makes software bundling a controversial installation method.

Keep in mind that the additional offers are optional, and if you pay attention during the installation process, you can easily prevent unwanted installations. It’s important to use Advanced (Custom) settings instead of Default (Basic) when given the option during program installation. You may notice that the installation window recommends using Default settings, but following that advice will authorize all added offers to install alongside. Advanced or Custom settings, on the other hand, will make all added offers visible and give the option to deselect what you do not want. We always recommend deselecting all added offers. Legitimate programs do not use this installation method, and programs that do are classified as potential threats by anti-virus vendors.

If you allow these additional offers to be installed, you will only fill up your computer with junk programs that will cause issues. If allowed to install, these junk programs can be difficult to remove. It’s much easier to deselect a couple of boxes during installation than to remove fully installed hijackers and adware.
