About this threat
Website Che is an unwanted extension that forces its installations onto users. It’s not a useful add-on, and it doesn’t really do anything beneficial. Rather, it will only disrupt your browsing by infecting advertisements into websites and redirecting you to weird adverts. These kinds of infections are not exactly malicious by themselves but they can lead users to malware infections, so you should not keep it installed. Especially because it forced you to install it. You must have been redirected to a website and encountered a pop-up asking you to install this extension. Theoretically, it gave you a choice to not to install it but whatever you pressed on, it launched the installation. And now that it’s installed, it’s trying to make income from pay-per-click. You might think of this as merely annoying but keep in mind that you could also be exposed to malicious ads. Thus, uninstall Website Che extension.
How to prevent similar infections?
When you encounter a situation where a pop-up is asking you to install something, the best option would be to close the tab or the browser itself. Do not press on any of the provided options, not “Cancel” and not the “X”. Whatever you press on, the extension will install. Instead of pressing something on the pop-up, close the browser. If something is preventing you from doing so, open Task Manager and end the browser process. You should also be careful to not get redirected to such questionable pages in the first place. Those redirects could be caused by an adware program or if you visited dangerous sites.
How does it act?
The extension will only affect Google Chrome but switching browsers and forgetting about the issue is not recommended. There will still be a possibly dangerous extension installed. It will start generating advertisements as soon as it enters your device and this may result in your computer acting sluggish and your browser crashing more often. This will go on until you decide to remove Website Che extension. We do not recommend engaging with any of the advertisements because they could lead you to some malicious computer malware and you would be in serious trouble. And most of the ads may be fake anyway. You should especially be careful when offered to download some kind of software. Keep in mind that you should only download programs from legitimate sources, and not random pop-ups and ads. Make sure you uninstall Website Che extension and you will be able to go back to usual browsing.
