RapidFinder may be advertised as a useful extension but it’s classified as a browser hijacker. It’s not a malicious infection but it will make unwanted changes to a browser’s settings and try to redirect you to sponsored websites. If your browser redirects you to finditfasts.com when you open your browser, your computer is definitely infected with a browser hijacker.
Browser hijackers are common infections that are generally installed alongside free programs. They can be installed without users even being aware of it. Once installed, these hijackers change browser settings and promote questionable search engines. Their primary goal is to redirect users to sponsored websites by inserting links into search results.
The RapidFinder browser hijacker specifically directs users to finditfasts.com, which will be set as the homepage and the default search engine. Additionally, it activates the “Managed by your organization” feature, typically used by company administrators to manage employees’ browsers more conveniently. When misused by a browser hijacker, this feature restricts users from making necessary changes to their browser settings.
While browser hijackers are not classified as malicious infections, they can still be quite problematic. Their modifications to browser settings primarily aim to redirect users to sponsored websites. The dubious search engines promoted by hijackers often include sponsored content in their search results, which can lead users to potentially harmful sites that may conceal malware or promote scams. Fortunately, these sponsored results are usually quite distinct, making it easier for users to avoid them.
Another concerning aspect of browser hijackers is their intrusive data collection practices. They can monitor users’ browsing habits and collect various types of information, including visited websites, search queries, and IP addresses. This information is often shared with third parties. Since the RapidFinder browser hijacker is entirely useless to you, there is no reason to tolerate such intrusive data collection.
Once this hijacker is installed, you will immediately notice its presence. Although it is not classified as a serious infection, it is advisable to use anti-virus software to remove RapidFinder browser hijacker. The software will handle the removal process, allowing you to change settings like usual once it’s gone.
How did the RapidFinder browser hijacker install on my computer?
Browser hijackers, adware, and similar infections are often disguised as useful programs to trick users into installing them. They can be promoted on websites that offer popular free programs. To avoid installing infections like this RapidFinder browser hijacker, we strongly recommend researching programs before downloading them. Even a quick search on a search engine like Google can help you determine whether a program is safe to download or install.
Browser hijackers and adware are often installed unintentionally by users. This commonly occurs through a method known as software bundling. Via this method, unwanted programs are added to free programs as additional offers. These offers are automatically authorized for installation alongside the main program, and explicit permission from users is not required. While these offers are technically optional, users must manually deselect them to prevent their installation. Because these offers are always hidden in settings that users don’t typically check, many users overlook them. This is why software bundling is considered a controversial installation method.
The additional offers attached to free programs are always optional. By paying close attention during installation, you can avoid these unwanted programs. When installing software, choose Advanced (Custom) settings instead of the Default (Basic) settings. The installation window recommends Default settings for quicker installation, but selecting this option will allow all bundled offers to be installed without your explicit consent.
Advanced or Custom settings will clearly display all added offers, giving you the option to deselect any you do not want. We strongly recommend deselecting every single offer that has been added. Legitimate programs do not use this installation method, and those that do are often flagged as potential threats by anti-virus programs.
While these extra offers may initially seem useful, allowing them to be installed would be a mistake. If you permit these installations, your computer will quickly become cluttered with unwanted programs that can be difficult to remove once fully installed. It is much easier to simply deselect a few boxes during the installation process.
How to remove RapidFinder browser hijacker?
