What is Emotent?
Emotent is not an ordinary application that you can keep installed on your computer fearlessly. Instead, it is known to be a banking Trojan. Malware researchers detected this threat for the first time back in 2014, but it seems that it still active because there are users who have encountered this malicious application recently.
It spreads actively in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and the United States, but it might affect users’ computers no matter where they are located. If you ever become its victim, delete Emotent without mercy because it is a nasty malicious application that has been developed for stealing personal information and distributing new malicious applications. This banking Trojan is, undoubtedly, serious malicious software, so it will not be very easy to remove it. Of course, it does not mean that it can stay installed on your system.
How does Emotent act?
You must remove Emotent from your system completely if it turns out that it is active on your system because it is a harmful malicious application that will cause problems if not removed. It is no longer a secret what it is capable of. If it stays installed on your computer, it will steal personal information from it, including your passwords. Additionally, it might be used to download and install new malicious applications on your computer. It will not ask you whether it can do this. All these threats will be installed on your PC without your knowledge, so the longer you keep Emotent installed, the more problems will arise. It is hard to say what it will do with the stolen data, but we are 99% sure that it will be used for malicious purposes. As for malware that it can install on your PC, you might encounter other Trojans, ransomware, worms, backdoors, and a bunch of other nasty infections. If you do not want this to happen, uninstall Emotent today.
How is Emotent normally distributed?
In most cases, Emotent is distributed via phishing emails promoting malicious URLs that open documents with corrupted macros. When the document is opened and macros enabled, the malicious payload is dropped on the system and Emotent starts working. You should be able to find its malicious components in the following directories: C:\Windows, C:\Windows\System32, C:\Windows\Syswow64, and C:\Users\AppData\Local\Temp. If you can locate all its malicious components there, it will not be difficult for you to implement the full Emotent removal manually. We are sure you will manage to delete Emotent one way or another if you have already encountered it; however, you should not forget that similar malicious applications might enter your computer without your knowledge again. They might be extremely hard to erase too.
How do I delete Emotent?
You can remove Emotent yourself in a manual way if you know exactly where all its components are located and can access them easily. Of course, it is, without a doubt, easier to erase threats automatically, so if you do not consider yourself an expert, you should remove Emotent by scanning your computer with an automated malware remover. We can assure you – there are no easier ways to implement the Emotent removal.
