UltraSearch is classified as a browser hijacker but it is promoted as a useful extension that will supposedly enhance the browsing experience. The hijacker will take over the browser and make unwanted changes in order to redirect users to sponsored websites. It’s not a dangerous infection but it certainly is frustrating to deal with.

As soon as UltraSearch browser hijacker is installed, you will notice it because it will hijack your browser and change its settings. Specifically, it will set boyu.com.tr as your homepage, new tabs, and default search engine. boyu.com.tr is a fake search engine. These changes will affect all popular browsers, including Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Microsoft Edge. Unfortunately, you will not be able to undo the changes to your browser’s settings until you remove UltraSearch browser hijacker from your computer.

Browser hijackers like UltraSearch are not considered to be dangerous infections because they generally do not cause harm to the computer directly. However, UltraSearch will try to redirect you to sponsored websites and generate revenue as that is its main purpose. This will be done by pushing you to use a dubious search engine boyu.com.tr. These types of fake search engines insert sponsored content into search results. These sponsored results will have very little to do with what you search for so they’ll at least be very obvious. We should mention that not all of those sponsored sites will be safe, which is why you should avoid clicking on them. Some sponsored results may expose you to scams and even malware. Thus, browser hijackers are not completely harmless.

Browser hijackers are quite intrusive when it comes to collecting data. They track your browsing activity and gather information such as the websites you visit, your search history, and your IP address. This data may also be shared with third parties. Since browser hijackers have no redeemable features, there is no reason to tolerate any form of data collection.

If you discover that a browser hijacker has taken over your browser, it’s best to remove it immediately. You can remove UltraSearch browser hijacker using an anti-virus program or by manual removal. However, it is recommended to use an anti-virus program as it would be considerably easier. The program will handle everything, allowing you to return to normal browsing. Once the hijacker has been removed, your browser will return to normal, and you can adjust your browser’s settings as usual.

How do browser hijackers install on a computer?

Infections such as browser hijackers and adware can be disguised as legitimate and useful programs and promoted on free program download websites. These sites are often filled with falsely advertised infections. To avoid installing threats like the UltraSearch browser hijacker, you need to research programs before downloading them. A quick search on Google should help determine whether a program is safe to download and install.

Browser hijackers can also be installed through what’s known as free software bundling. This method allows infections to be added to free programs as extra offers. These offers can be installed alongside the programs they’re attached to automatically, without requiring explicit permission from users. This is why the method is quite controversial.

While these offers are technically optional, users need to manually deselect them in order to prevent their installations. However, the added offers are often hidden in settings that users don’t typically use, making it difficult for users to notice and deselect them. As a result, many users inadvertently allow these offers to be installed.

Additional offers that come added to programs are optional and their installations can be easily prevented. By paying attention during the installation process, you should have no issues with this. When installing programs, it’s important to use Advanced (Custom) settings instead of Default (Basic) settings. The installation window will recommend using Default settings, but if you do so, all added offers will be authorized to install alongside without you even noticing.

The Advanced (Custom) settings make all added offers visible and give you the option to deselect all of them. It’s always recommended to deselect all added offers, as legitimate programs do not use this method to install. Programs that do are classified as potential threats by anti-virus programs.

It’s never recommended to allow additional offers to install. These offers are mostly junk that will only take up space on your computer and cause issues. They can also be difficult to remove once fully installed, and it’s much easier to deselect a couple of boxes when installing programs.
