About this infection
Driver Reviver is an optimization tool, also classified as a potentially unwanted program (PUP). It’s not exactly a malicious infection, though it will do nothing beneficial to your system. It’s advertised as a legitimate tool that will help you fix your computer but in reality, it’s more like a pest that will try to trick you out of your money. You could have downloaded it yourself, or it could have been added to freeware as an extra offer, which means you were tricked into installing it. It will try to convince you that you need to update your drivers but it will only help you if you buy the full version. These kinds of scam programs are very common and less experienced users do end up paying for a useless program that doesn’t really do anything. If you notice it on your system, you need to remove Driver Reviver.
How did it install?
If you do not remember it installing, it was attached to freeware as an extra offer and you failed to notice it. These kinds of installations are fairly common and because users do not pay attention, they end up with all kinds of unwanted programs. Next time you install freeware, use Advanced or Custom settings. You will not only see what has been added but will also be able to deselect everything. And make sure that you do because those items are hidden there for a reason. Whether you installed it willingly or not, we suggest you delete Driver Reviver.
Why should you uninstall Driver Reviver?
The PUP might start showing you alerts about possible dangers from the moment it enters your computer. It will make it seem as if those supposedly serious issues are severely affecting your computer and that you need to resolve them as quickly as possible. It will show an unusually high number of issues in order to scare you. We would suggest ignoring everything it displays, especially the part when it says you need to buy the full version in order to solve all the driver problems. Your computer is probably fine and the only threat is this PUP. If you buy the program, which is reportedly $30, the people behind this might continue to take funds out of your account and that would bring about a set of new problems. You might also start seeing advertisements on your browsers, alerting you about possible infection. Keep in mind that your browser will never legitimately report an infection on your computer because it’s not capable of doing that. You get nothing from keeping this PUP on your system so we recommend you remove Driver Reviver.
