What is active.exe
active.exe is an executable file that doesn’t appear to belong to any Windows core software. If you find it running in your Task Manager and it’s using a suspiciously large amount of system resources, you may be dealing with some kind of infection. Even then, unless it’s using a lot of resources, it doesn’t have a very noticeable presence.

Torrent web pages are very badly regulated and that allows malicious actors to easily upload malware and disguise it as a torrent for a popular movie, episode of a TV series, game or software. Unless you check everything very carefully, it can be difficult to determine whether a torrent contains malware, so a lot of users end up with infections. You are likely already aware of this, but pirating is not only illegal, it’s also dangerous for the computer.
Clicking on a malicious ad can also trigger malware to download. Certain high-risk websites have a lot of potentially dangerous ads, which is why you shouldn’t engage with them. Having adblocker when browsing those sites can also go a long way to protect you from malicious ads, especially when browsing sites that have pornography or pirated content, as they usually have questionable ads.
